Cartier-Bresson Critique

I picked this image because I love the multiple layers of contrast. I also love the motion of the dancers. The time and place makes you think of sorrow and tough life. It says that they're practicing for a dance competition, so it makes me wonder more about these two. How many days have they spent here dancing? Do they always practice alone and have they been dancing their whole life?

The framing of the photo makes you really focus in o the two dancers, as well as the blur on the woman showing motions. With the multiple layers of contrast I mentioned before, I can mention three. There's the contrast of the black walls and chair seats and the white of the lettering and the shine on the dancers. Then there's the contrast of the motion inside the room and the almost still and quiet space outside the room. Finally with the chairs there's a broken sequence of a line but then if you look through the door the line is continued in the background with more chairs and to me it is very pleasing. With these contrasts, to me it makes the whole piece feel balanced, with somehow a calm atmosphere, even with the motion occurring.
